Artist Ma Jingji shows 30 pieces of Diancui works he has collected or created at an exhibition in Chongqing, Oct. 22, 2018. Diancui, or dotting with kingfishers, is a painstakingly time-consuming and precise practice of inlaying iridescent kingfisher feathers into accessories for the rich and noble. Craftsmen apply the shimmering feathers to jewelry, hairpins, bracelets, brooches, fans, and landscape panels. Instead of kingfisher feathers, goose feathers and ribbons are used nowadays to make art creations with diancui skills.
