Guangxi University of Science and Technology is located in Liuzhou, a famous national historical and cultural city and an important industrial town, transportation hub and business logistics center in southwest China. On April 18, 2013, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school was established by the merger of the former Guangxi Institute of Technology and the former Liuzhou Medical College. It is a work-oriented university with nine disciplines, namely, industry, management, science, medicine, economics, literature, law, art and education. It is directly under the management of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The school has three campuses, Donghuan, Liushi and Liudong, covering an area of nearly 4000 mu. There are 20 secondary colleges, 19 institutes (centers), 2 directly affiliated hospitals and 79 specialties. There are nearly 1800 faculty members and more than 27,000 full-time students.

The school has the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, the National Key Construction Training Base for Vocational Teachers, the National Automobile Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (co-construction), the Guangxi Engineering Research Center (co-construction), the Guangxi University Cooperative Innovation Center, the Guangxi University-Enterprise-School-Land Co-construction Research Platform, the key laboratories of the autonomous region, the autonomous region experimental teaching demonstration center, and the autonomous region-level demonstration. More than 30 teaching and scientific research platforms, such as higher vocational education training bases, have a value of more than 12,000 yuan per student for teaching and scientific research equipment.

In 2013, the school was approved by the Autonomous Region Academic Degree Committee and became a construction unit with the right to grant doctoral degrees. At present, there are seven first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, one second-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, seven master's professional degree authorized points, three doctoral degree authorized projects, two disciplines selected for the first-class disciplines (cultivation) construction in Guangxi, three national characteristic specialty construction points, one pilot project of "comprehensive professional reform" of the Ministry of Education, and one professional point construction project of vocational teachers'capital subject of the Ministry of Education. There are 3 high-quality majors in the autonomous region, 10 high-quality majors in the autonomous region, 9 characteristic majors and curriculum integration projects in Guangxi universities, 6 dominant characteristic majors at the autonomous region level, 9 key disciplines in Guangxi universities, 21 excellent courses in the autonomous region, 1 excellent video open course at the autonomous region level, 3 online open courses at the Autonomous Region level, and 8 related projects in the teaching of "Guangxi Higher Education Creating Excellence Plan". Over the past five years, teachers have undertaken more than 1 600 scientific research projects, won 38 provincial and ministerial awards and more than 890 national patents.

The school further accelerates the pace of the construction of the subject of doctoral degree authorization, and strives to become a doctoral degree authorization unit as soon as possible. With professional certification (evaluation) as the starting point, we should strengthen the construction of new disciplines and specialties, comprehensively improve the level of professional education, and strive to cultivate "the backbone of the industry, the link of innovation". Students in the National University Students "challenge cup", electronic design, mechanical innovative design, mathematical modeling and other disciplines competition and National University Students Art exhibition, rock climbing, handball and other literary and sports competitions have repeatedly achieved good results.

The school insists on focusing on leading talents and team building, optimizing the structure of talent team, establishing and improving the mechanism of talent team building and high-level talent work support system. Full implementation of the "3331 High-level Talents Plan" ensures the further increase of high-level talents and "dual-competent" teachers, further optimization of the team structure, and strives to train and bring up a group of academic leaders with noble ethics, rigorous academic management, profound academic attainments and certain influence at home and abroad, and a group of active academic thinking, innovative spirit and development potential. The backbone force should build a high-level team of teachers with sufficient quantity, excellent quality, optimized structure and innovative development. At present, 45% of full-time teachers have senior professional titles. They enjoy special allowances from the State Council, Bagui scholars, second-level candidates for Guangxi 100,000 talents project, specially appointed experts in Guangxi, outstanding experts in Guangxi, famous teachers in Guangxi, outstanding scientific and technological personnel with outstanding contributions in Guangxi, outstanding scholars in Guangxi universities, 100 young and middle-aged subject leaders in Guangxi universities, and teachers in Guangxi universities. There are 22 outstanding teachers and educators.

The school relies on the board system established with the Liuzhou municipal government and major enterprises and institutions, and further promotes school-enterprise cooperation and educating people through the joint meeting system of municipal schools. Deepening the integration of industry and education, promoting the supply-side reform of talent cultivation, promoting the organic connection of education chain, talent chain, industry chain and innovation chain, and cultivating a large number of high-quality innovative talents and applied talents, which are in short supply in society, further highlights the school-running characteristics of "school-city integration, school-enterprise cooperation". In 2016, the school cooperated with Enlightenment Holding Co., Ltd. to establish "Enlightenment Digital College of Guangxi University of Science and Technology" and build a demonstration training base for Applied Talents in digital technology industry. In 2017, we signed a cooperative school-running agreement with Guizhou Weiai Education Technology Co., Ltd. to build "Hongda Weiai Science and Technology College of Guangxi University of Science and Technology" to train virtual reality professionals. In 2018, we signed cooperation agreements with Liuzhou Municipal Government and Luoke Science and Technology Co., Ltd. to build "Rococo Design College of Guangxi University of Science and Technology" and jointly build Guangxi Industrial Design City; and signed agreements with Guangxi Sports Bureau to build "Guangxi Climbing Team" to train and transport talents for the 2020 Olympic Games.

Schools attach great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, and constantly improve the level of education internationalization. At present, the school has two undergraduate programs with 428 students and 430 international students (including non-academic education) in cooperation with the University of Longbia in Edinburgh and the University of Southern Cross in Australia. At the same time, 39 universities in 13 countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Ireland, South Korea and Vietnam, have carried out multi-level and multi-form exchanges and cooperation, and their international influence is growing.

The school has beautiful environment and harmonious campus civilization. It has won the honorary titles of "National Model Workers'Home", "National Advanced Campus Culture Unit", "National National Reading Demonstration Base" successively.
