Hubei is the home of Li Shizhen, a famous medical scientist. Founded in 1958, Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the only higher undergraduate college of traditional Chinese medicine in Hubei Province. Its predecessor is the advanced school of traditional Chinese medicine in Hubei Province, which was founded in 1954. In 2003, the former Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine merged with the former Hubei College of Pharmaceutical Inspection to establish a new Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was renamed Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in March 2010. The school is located in Wuhan, Jiangcheng City. It covers an area of 1 610 Mu and has a total construction area of 510,000 square meters.
