Study in Inner Mongolia Agricultural University
Inner Mongolia Agricultural University was formed by the merger of Inner Mongolia Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College and Inner Mongolia Forestry College in 1999. It is a multi-disciplinary university with the characteristics of agriculture, forestry, grassland animal husbandry, agriculture, engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, arts and other eight disciplines. It has formed the personnel training system of bachelor, master and doctor. There are currently 22 departments (including vocational and technical colleges) such as the Academy of Animal Sciences. In 2001, it became a key university to support the construction of "one province and one school" in the national western development. In 2012, it became a "provincial and ministerial co-construction" University of the State Forestry Administration (now the State Forestry and Grassland Administration) and the people's government of autonomous regions. In 2013, it entered the ranks of the support universities of the national "Central and Western Higher Education Revitalization Plan".
In 1952, the former Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Hebei Agricultural College, Plain Agricultural College and Shanxi Agricultural College relocated to Guisui (now Hohhot) to form Inner Mongolia Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medical College, the first undergraduate college in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 1958, Inner Mongolia Forestry College was established. In 1960, Inner Mongolia College of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine was renamed Inner Mongolia College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. In 1999, Inner Mongolia Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College and Inner Mongolia Forestry College merged to form Inner Mongolia Agricultural University.
At present, there are 34 877 full-time students in general higher education (28047 at school-based level), of which 2992 are graduate students, covering a total area of 14897 mu (11625 Mu at school-based level) and 3360 mu (2630 Mu at school-based level). The school-based teaching administration room covers an area of 409.2 million square meters, four standard track and field venues (halls), with a total value of 915 million yuan for teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment, and an average value of 302,000 yuan for students.

PhD teachers accounted for 43.09% (48.91% of the school-based departments). One person was supported by the "Yangtze River Scholar Award Scheme" and the "National Outstanding Youth Science Fund". There are 1 national teaching team and 18 autonomous region teaching team in the teaching work school. There are 5 national quality courses and 2 national quality resource sharing courses. There are one experimental area for innovation of national talent training mode, two national experimental teaching demonstration centers, one national off-campus practical education base for college students, one national cultural quality education base for college students, and three first batch of agricultural science and Education Cooperative talents training bases of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture. Six national-level and 36 autonomous-region-level educational and teaching reform research projects have been set up. Since the Twelfth Five-Year Plan of Scientific Research, the school has hosted nearly 2,000 scientific research projects at all levels and received more than 1 billion yuan in research revenue, including 513 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including Jieqing, Youqing, key projects and the National Union, with a total expenditure of 247 million yuan. It has hosted four projects of the 13th Five-Year Plan of National Key Research and Development with a total expenditure of 114 million yuan. In 2017 and 2018, Agricultural Sciences entered the first 1% of ESI in the world. Three achievements in the research fields of characteristic animal genome and lactobacillus were published in Nature Communications. Thirty school-level scientific and technological innovation (cultivation) teams have been set up, including two in the key areas of the Ministry of Science and Technology, three in the development plan of the Ministry of Education, two in the Ministry of Agriculture and nine in the autonomous region. One national field scientific research observatory, 56 provincial and ministerial key laboratories (engineering research center, field station and Humanities and social science base) have been built, and two collaborative innovation training centers identified by the Education Department of the Autonomous Region are under construction.
In 2013, "Inner Mongolia Agricultural University New Rural Development Research Institute" was included in the second batch of national colleges and universities new rural development research institute construction plan. Twelve teachers were selected for relevant positions in the 13th Five-Year Plan National Modern Agricultural Industry Technology System. In recent years, the school has signed more than 20 cooperation agreements with Huhhot, Alashan League, Tuyou Banner, Qingshuihe, Helin County, Yili, Mengniu, Mengcao, Jinyu, Sano Sheep Industry, Minfeng Potato Industry and more than 60 new achievements and technologies. The self-developed probiotic strains and veterinary vaccines have been transformed with a total amount of more than 50 million yuan.
Open school attaches great importance to foreign exchanges and cooperation. It has established inter-school cooperation and academic exchanges with more than 60 universities and scientific research institutions in more than a dozen countries, such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, Japan and Mongolia. It has also established "China-Canada Sustainable Agricultural Research and Development Center", "Malik Management Center" and "Inner Mongolia Agricultural University Branch Center".
