Study in Xinjiang Medical University
Xinjiang Medical University, located at the foot of Carp Mountain in Urumqi, is the only independent medical college in Xinjiang.
In 1954, with the concern and support of Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai, "Xinjiang Medical College" was formally included in 156 key projects of the National "Five-Year Plan". In July 1956, Xinjiang Medical College was formally established. On October 15, 1956, the first 233 undergraduates of clinical medicine held the opening ceremony. The first batch of teachers of Xinjiang Medical College are composed of medical experts and teaching backbone from more than ten brothers'colleges in the mainland, such as Shanghai Medical College, Beijing Medical College, China Medical University and Shandong Medical College.
In June 1998, Xinjiang Medical College and Xinjiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine merged to establish Xinjiang Medical University. Jiang Zemin, then General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, wrote the name of the university.
On August 26, 2016, the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the former National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Ministry of Education jointly issued the Opinions on the Joint Construction of Xinjiang Medical University, which officially became a joint University of provincial, ministerial and ministerial departments.
Over the past 62 years, adhering to the school motto of "good learning ability, good medical innovation", the school has always adhered to the socialist orientation of running a school, regarded "educating people for the Party and the country" as its responsibility, set running a medical university that is satisfactory to the Party and the people as its starting point and foothold, run through the whole process of education and teaching the concept of "who to train people, who to train people, how to train people", take root in the frontier and dedicate to the frontier. The school has four campuses, namely, the school headquarters, the North Campus, the Mingyuan Campus and the Cangfanggou Campus, covering an area of 1951 mu, while the new Campus of Himaquan under construction covers an area of 2165 mu. The school has 22 departments and 26 undergraduate majors, covering four disciplines: medicine, management, science and literature. It has formed a professional structure and layout with medicine as the main subject and other disciplines complementing each other. Among them, there are 6 national characteristic specialties, 1 national talent training model innovation experimental area, 5 national excellent doctor education and training program projects, and 6 autonomous region key specialties.
There are 14239 full-time students, equivalent to 20220 students. Among them, 9211 ordinary undergraduates, 3072 full-time Master students, 223 doctoral students, 1169 general college students, 564 international students and 10314 adult education students. (As of June 2018)
There are 15726 faculty members (including affiliated hospitals), of which 1309 are full-time teachers, 67.00% are full-time teachers with senior professional titles and 78.38% are full-time teachers with master's degree and doctoral degree. It has one first batch of "National Year Teachers Team of Huangda", two innovative teams of Jiang Scholars, Minister of Education, one "Young Yangtze Scholar", one national famous teaching teacher, one national famous teaching teacher of TCM colleges and universities, one national master of TCM, two national famous TCM teachers, six national "national candidates for talent project of 1 million people in the new century" and three national "1000-person plan" in Xinjiang. The school has two national experimental teaching demonstration centers and five autonomous experimental teaching demonstration centers; one Ministry of science and technology co-constructs a key laboratory (the National Key Laboratory for the Causes and Prevention of High Morbidity in Central Asia); one Ministry of education co-constructs a key laboratory (the Xinjiang Uygur Key Laboratory for the Research of High Morbidity Diseases); and one ministry of education co-constructs a joint laboratory for international cooperation (the Central Asian Heavy). Major Disease Control Laboratory, 8 key laboratories at the autonomous region level, and 23 autonomous medical research institutes (centers).
The school is dominated by medical disciplines, with six key disciplines in the 13th Five-Year Plan in autonomous regions, including two peak disciplines and four plateau disciplines; clinical medicine has entered the top 1% of ESI in the world; five doctoral degree authorization points for first-level disciplines, two doctoral degree authorization points for professional degrees; 10 master degree authorization points for first-level disciplines, eight master degree authorization points; and two post-doctoral research workstations. 3 postdoctoral research mobile stations.
The school has made remarkable achievements in research on major diseases, prevention and treatment of extremely high-incidence diseases and development of regional special drug resources in Xinjiang and its surrounding areas. In 2017, 490 scientific research projects were obtained, with an outlay of 83.5245 million yuan, 476 vertical projects, 81.9474 million yuan, 14 horizontal projects and 1.5771 million yuan. Among them, the regional fund of the National Natural Fund ranks fourth in the national universities, among which 85 projects of "face, youth and land" have reached a record high, ranking first in the autonomous region. In 2017, 3207 academic papers were published publicly, of which 353 were SCI papers, ranking first among the universities in the autonomous region. The number of autonomous region science and technology progress awards ranked first in Xinjiang universities for ten consecutive years. In 2017, he won 15 science and technology awards, 2 first-class awards, 5 second-class awards and 8 third-class awards.
There are 134 practice bases, 6 directly affiliated hospitals, 6 non-affiliated hospitals, 18 teaching hospitals, 93 practice hospitals, 5 pharmaceutical practice bases and 6 public health and preventive medicine practice bases. The clinical teaching and practice base of the school has concentrated the high quality resources and prominent advantages of Xinjiang, initially realizing the goal of "not going abroad for minor diseases, not going to counties for serious diseases, and not going abroad for difficult and critical diseases". Six affiliated hospitals directly under the school are all tertiary first-class hospitals and clinical medical schools, with nearly 10,000 open beds. The First Affiliated Hospital ranks 55th in the list of top 100 hospitals in China from 2017 to 2018; the Second Affiliated Hospital is the Xinjiang Branch of the National Center for Clinical Medical Research on Geriatric Diseases; and the Third Affiliated Hospital is the Xinjiang Branch of the National Cancer Center. The Fourth Affiliated Hospital is the National Clinical Research Base of TCM and the National International Cooperation Base of TCM; the Fifth Affiliated Hospital is the designated hospital of "Mother Smile Action" of the China Women's Development Foundation; and the Sixth Affiliated Hospital is the Central Asian Orthopaedic Center of Xinjiang Medical University.
The school has continuously strengthened exchanges and cooperation with well-known universities at home and abroad. In 2011, the Ministry of Education decided that Zhongnan University, Jilin University and Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine should provide comprehensive counterpart support to our universities. At the same time, it has established long-term cooperative relations with more than 20 universities such as Fudan University, Sun Yat-sen University and China University of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Each university has appointed cadres and experts to assist Xinjiang in the form of precise assistance, target assistance and team assistance, which has promoted the level of running schools. The school has established inter-school cooperation with universities and research institutes in the United States, Russia, Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Pakistan and other countries. Especially in recent years, the scale and quality of International Education in schools have been continuously improved, and academic qualifications have been recognized by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Bahrain and other countries. The number of academic qualifications includes 1192 people at the doctoral, master and undergraduate levels. The Ministry of Education has awarded the first batch of universities receiving government scholarships and advanced collectives for overseas students'education in China. In 2011, it was approved to be the first demonstration base of universities studying abroad in Xinjiang.
Relying on the existing eight national key clinical specialties, 14 national key (cultivation) specialties of the Chinese Medicine Administration and 73 regional key clinical specialties, the influence of the school in the surrounding countries and regions has increased significantly, which has made outstanding contributions to the construction of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt.
