Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics is located in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, which is known as "paradise on earth". It is a financial university with economy and management as its main subject and coordinated development of economy, management, literature, law, science, engineering, technology, philosophy and other disciplines. Its predecessor was Zhejiang Finance and Banking School, which was founded in 1974. In 1987, Zhejiang Finance and Economics College was approved to establish. In 1991, Zhejiang Finance and Economics College was granted bachelor's degree. In 2003, Zhejiang Finance and Economics College was granted master's degree. In 2012, Zhejiang Finance and Economics University was approved to train doctoral talents for special needs of the country. In 2013, Zhejiang Finance and Economics University was renamed as Zhejiang Finance and Economics University Construction of colleges and universities, in 2018 was granted doctoral degree awarding units.

The school has four campuses, Xiasha, Wenhua, Cuiyuan and Chang'an, covering an area of 2,300 mu, with a total building area of 985,000 square meters.
