Anhui University of Finance and Economics is a multidisciplinary university of economics, management and law. It is the first batch of universities with bachelor's degree conferring power and the third batch of universities with master's degree conferring power in China. It is a key university in Anhui Province and a University jointly established by the Anhui People's Government and the National Supply and Marketing Cooperative Society of China. In 2012, it was approved as the basic capacity building project of universities in central and Western China, and in 2014 it was selected as the construction project of high-level universities with local characteristics in Anhui Province.

The school was founded in May 1959 in Hefei, Anhui Province. It was named Anhui College of Finance and Trade. In 1961, Bengbu, the central city of the Huaihe River Basin, was relocated to the traffic road. In 1983, the school headquarters moved to Longhu West Campus, which was successively subordinated to the National Supply and Marketing Cooperative, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Domestic Trade. In February 2000, the State Council decided that Anhui Institute of Finance and Trade should be built jointly by the central and local governments, with Anhui Provincial Government as the main management. In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Anhui University of Finance and Economics. In September of the same year, the school moved to Longhu East Campus.

The school covers a total area of 983450 square meters, with a total fixed assets value of 1712.5985 million yuan. The total collection of books is 3.295 million, of which 2.1483 million are paper books and 1.469 million are electronic books. There are 16,000 online electronic journals, including 10,000 Chinese journals, 60,000 foreign journals and 44 online databases. There are 12 colleges, 1 teaching department, 3 provincial research institutes and 35 school-level research institutes; 67 undergraduate majors and 2 second bachelor's degree majors; 8 First-Level Discipline master's degree authorization points, 36 second-level discipline master's degree authorization points and 14 professional master's degree authorization points; 4 provincial-level key research bases, 8 provincial-level key disciplines, 1 provincial-level first-class discipline and 5 countries. Family-level specialty, 14 provincial-level specialty, 1 national-level comprehensive reform pilot project, and 1 national-level school-enterprise cooperative practical education base.

There are currently 1 398 in-service faculty members, including 1080 full-time teachers, 502 teachers with senior professional titles, and 81.85% of them have doctoral degree. There are 21099 undergraduates and 1884 postgraduates. Since 2010, the school has entered a Book of enrollment, and the admission score line has been among the top in provincial colleges and universities.

The school firmly establishes the central position of talent cultivation, earnestly implements the fundamental task of cultivating people by virtue, promotes the construction of the "four in one" system of knowledge exploration, ability enhancement, quality cultivation and personality cultivation, devotes itself to cultivating high-level applied talents, and provides talent support and intellectual support for local and industrial economic and social development. According to the White Paper on Innovative Talents Training and Discipline Competition in Chinese Universities (2013-2017), issued by the Chinese Higher Education Association, the school ranked 181, ranked 5th among provincial universities and 6th among national financial and economic universities.

The school gives full play to its educational background and advantages, condenses its disciplinary characteristics and orientation, establishes special disciplinary zones, innovates its disciplinary construction platform, and forms a multi-disciplinary, rational structure, mutual support, advantages and distinct characteristics of economic and management disciplines. Applied economics has been selected as one of the major disciplines at the provincial level and one of the first-class disciplines in Anhui Province. Applied Economics, Business Administration and Statistics have all obtained B-level in the fourth round of discipline evaluation issued by the Ministry of Education. Among the best disciplines in China in soft disciplines in 2018, 7 disciplines are listed in the school list, and the number of disciplines on the list ranks fifth in provincial universities.

Schools have always attached great importance to scientific research and social services. The level of scientific research has been steadily improved, and the brand and influence of social services have become increasingly prominent. New breakthroughs have been made in projects such as the National Social Science Fund and the National Natural Science Fund. The number of projects sponsored by the National Social Science Fund ranks second in provincial universities in the top ten and four consecutive years in the national financial and economic universities. Based on the local economic and social development and industry needs, the school strives to build a new high-end think tank in the field of Finance and economics. Especially, the research results represented by the series of economic and social development reports in Anhui Province are increasingly influential, and the distinctive brands are increasingly prominent.

The school actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation, invites experts and scholars from home and abroad to give lectures and lectures, and sends teachers to Japan, the United States, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Romania, Hungary and other countries, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other regions to study, visit and pursue degrees actively.
