Changzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College, formerly Changzhou Light Industry Vocational and Technical College, is a public full-time general college in charge of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. Founded in 1958, the College has a nearly 60-year history of running education with industry characteristics. It is a model vocational college in Jiangsu Province. Located in Changzhou, the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta with the most developed economy in China, the College is located in the Changzhou Higher Vocational Education Park with beautiful scenery and modern atmosphere, which integrates teaching, scientific research, training, vocational skills identification and social services.

The college covers an area of nearly 1000 mu and its building area is nearly 300,000 m2. There are Colleges of Materials Engineering and Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Technology, Electrical Engineering and Technology, Economics and Trade Management, Information Engineering and Technology, Tourism and Cuisine, Art Creativity, Rail Transit Engineering and Technology, Overseas Education, Marxist College, Continuing Education College, Quality Education and Innovation College, Sports Work Department, etc. Teaching units, a total of 46 majors.

The Institute is closely linked to the needs of industry and regional economic and social development, and builds state-level numerical control technology training base, electromechanical integration technology training base, Jiangsu intelligent manufacturing production line training platform, "Internet +" business scenario training platform, Jiangsu home appliance testing and maintenance training base, polymer material application technology training base, modern manufacturing equipment control and maintenance. Training base; Jiangsu University Electrical and Electronic Experiment Demonstration Center, Chemistry Basic Course Teaching and Experiment Center; Jiangsu Digital Design and Research Center, LED Application Engineering Technology Research and Development Center and more than 100 experimental and training centers.

Adhering to the principle of cultivating people by virtue, the College has trained more than 50,000 high-quality and high-skilled professionals who are outstanding representatives of Deng Jianjun, a national model worker. Four times (2011, 2013, 2015, 2016) were awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Unit of Jiangsu Vocational Skills Competition" by the Provincial Education Department. For eight consecutive years, the Institute was awarded "Advanced Unit of Jiangsu Vocational Skills Appraisal", "Advanced Unit of Jiangsu Vocational Education" in 2014 and "Cradle Award of Jiangsu High-skilled Talents" in 2015. He has won one first prize, two second prizes, one special prize, one first prize and eight second prizes.

According to the employment rate data published by Jiangsu Provincial Education Department, the initial employment rate of college graduates has been stable at over 93% in the past three years, and the annual employment rate at the end of the year is above 98%, which is higher than the average level of Higher Vocational Colleges in Jiangsu Province. According to the Report on Employment, Early Warning and Talent Supply in Key Industries of Jiangsu Province, the competitiveness level of graduates in 2013 and 2014 ranks first and second in the same universities in Jiangsu Province.

At present, there are more than 10,000 full-time students, nearly 600 faculty members, 32% of Vice-Senior titles, 66% of master's and doctoral degrees, and 88.2% of double-qualified teachers. There are 2 provincial excellent teaching teams, 1 provincial excellent scientific and technological innovation team, 3 National Excellent teachers, 3 technical experts in Jiangsu Province, 3 famous teaching teachers in Jiangsu Province, 6 training objects of "Provincial 333 Project", 16 training objects of "Blue Project", 35 senior technicians, 59 technicians and 8 excellent teaching teams at college level. Five professors were selected into Changzhou Municipal Government Think Tank to provide suggestions for serving the local industrial structure and upgrading.

Insisting on the concept of "win-win cooperation and service area", the college actively expands the social service platform and strengthens the social service function. It has worked closely with the famous big groups such as Xingyu Car Lamp, Changfa Group, Jinchuang Group, Xinrui Heavy Industries, Jiangsu Hengli Hydraulic and other large companies, and has built two provincial R&D platforms and three municipal public technology service platforms. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, 102 vertical and 193 horizontal scientific research projects were undertaken, including 8 National projects, 20 provincial projects and 47 municipal scientific research projects. He has won one first prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology Award, one second prize of Jiangsu University Science and Technology Progress, one project of National Torch Plan and one second and third prize of Jiangsu Light Industry Association for Science and Technology Progress.

The College continuously implements the school culture construction project, forming the school culture education mode of "craftsman spirit cultivation" and "thanksgiving and responsibility education" and "two-round linkage". Since 2006, the College has proposed to build a school culture centered on the spirit of outstanding alumni and "great craftsmen" Deng Jianjun's "loving hill, devoting to work and constantly striving for self-improvement". It has carried out a series of school cultural activities centered on Deng Jianjun's spirit to cultivate the craftsmen's spirit of loving hill and dedicating to work, self-improvement, and strict and trustworthy. At the same time, it received General Secretary Xi Jinping. With this as its characteristic, the College has won the second prize of Jiangsu Province's teaching achievement, the third prize of the Ministry of Education's campus culture construction achievement and the first prize of the quality education achievement of China Machinery Education Association.

In order to serve the national "one belt and one way" initiative, the academy takes the promotion of brand internationalization as the starting point, and takes "going out" to actively carry out technical skills training as a breakthrough for the enterprises. It also promotes the internationalization of international talents training, curriculum development, teaching staff, social services and academic exchanges in an all-round and three-dimensional way. The College implements the "Overseas Research Project" for its teaching staff, and has organized more than 150 professional teachers and managers to exchange learning and further training with developed countries and regions of vocational education abroad, such as the United States, Germany, Britain, Japan and Taiwan, so as to enhance teachers'international vision; and cooperates with the Jiangsu Foundation for Excellent Education Development to carry out an overseas undergraduate through-train project to expand students' horizons. To provide a variety of channels for outgoing exchange and learning; to cooperate with Battenford, Germany, to carry out the "Huge Teaching Model Reform" project between China and Germany, and explore the reform of teaching model. Since 2016, the College has organized more than 60 excellent students to study abroad for one semester at Longhua University of Science and Technology in Taiwan. At the same time, it has recruited more than 100 foreign students from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Sudan, Laos and other countries, thus improving the international level of running the College.
