Changzhou Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College is a provincial public full-time higher vocational college, founded in 1963, formerly known as Changzhou Mechanical Vocational School, now located in Changzhou Science and Education City. In 2002, the school was upgraded to a higher vocational college independently, belonging to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. In 2010, the school became the national demonstration (backbone) higher vocational colleges; in 2018, the school became the construction unit of high-level Higher Vocational Colleges in Jiangsu Province. The school covers an area of 942 Mu and has a building area of more than 300,000 square meters. There are more than 10,000 full-time students (12,000 in scale) and 700 teaching staff.

Adhering to the school motto spirit of "keeping pace with knowledge and practice", the school adheres to the school-running concept of "people-oriented, advocating technology, open sharing, pursuing excellence" and the principle of "employment orientation, making every student successful; continuous improvement, satisfying all customers", innovates the school-running system and mechanism boldly, and deepens the reform of education and teaching.

The school innovates the school-enterprise cooperation mode of "four sides, three layers, inside and outside stations, and win-win cooperation", establishes the School-Enterprise Cooperation Council composed of representatives of the four parties of government, administration, enterprise and school, builds the school-enterprise cooperation platform of "inside and outside stations", establishes the close school-enterprise cooperation mechanism of "cross-border interaction and cooperative development", and forms the "southern Jiangsu" mode of integration of production and education. In 2014, we took the lead in setting up national vocational education groups, such as the National Machinery Industry Modern Agricultural Machinery Equipment Talents Training Alliance and the National Machinery Industry Industrial Robot and Intelligent Equipment Vocational Education Group, to promote the deep integration of industry and education, enhance the attractiveness of running schools and build vocational education brand.

The school is rooted in industry and serves the local areas, forming a professional pattern of "taking the major of equipment manufacturing industry as the core and the major of manufacturing service as the support", opening 45 specialties. The school has nine secondary colleges (mechanical engineering college, electrical engineering college, mould technology college, vehicle engineering college, rail transit college, Information Engineering college, economic management college, creative design college, International Education college), three departments (cultural foundation department, professional foundation department, sports department) and 14 teaching departments such as Marxist college and continuing education college.

The school actively meets the needs of regional industrial development, and has six characteristic professional groups: industrial design, advanced mechanical manufacturing technology, intelligent equipment technology, Internet of Things and manufacturing informatization, automobile technology and service, supply chain service, etc. The school has deepened the reform of "three in one and the whole process" talent training mode, implemented the "learning by doing" and "teaching by doing" teaching modes, constructed the teaching quality guarantee system of "multi-subject, double-line and three-dimensional management". It has established two national demonstration specialty points of equipment manufacturing in Vocational Colleges of the Ministry of Education, two brand specialties in Jiangsu higher education and two characteristic specialties in provincial colleges and universities. At present, the school has 33 professional information resource databases and 59 course teaching sub-databases, of which the "Industrial Robot Technology Professional Teaching Resource Base of Vocational Education" is the "National Vocational Education Professional Teaching Resource Base" and has passed the acceptance test. There are also five sub-projects of the National Vocational Education Professional Teaching Resource Base.

The school attaches great importance to the construction of teaching staff, and insists that the most important thing is to build a team of teachers with reasonable structure, rigorous academic management, excellent quality and vitality. The school has 498 full-time teachers and employs more than 350 part-time teachers from industrial enterprises. Among full-time teachers, 210 are senior professional titles, accounting for 42.17% of full-time teachers; 375 are teachers with master's degree or above (54 are doctoral degree teachers), accounting for 75.30% of full-time teachers; 440 are teachers with dual quality, accounting for 88.35% of full-time teachers. Among the teachers, there are 3 famous teaching teachers in Jiangsu Province, 1 young and middle-aged expert in Jiangsu Province, 10 training objects of "333 Project" in Jiangsu Province, 2 funding objects of the six major talent peaks in Jiangsu Province, 2 training objects of 831 high-level innovative entrepreneurship talents in Changzhou City, 1 national teaching team, 3 excellent teaching teams in Jiangsu Province, and 2 excellent teaching teams of "Blue Project" in Jiangsu Province. Since 2005, the school has been carrying out ISO9000 quality management conformity certification work with each student as its own responsibility. As an important training base for intelligent equipment technicians in Changzhou and Jiangsu Province, nearly 4000 graduates are transported to the region every year. The first employment rate of graduates is over 98%, the professional counterpart rate of employment posts is over 85%, and the employer's satisfaction with school graduates is over 96%. In recent years, students have won 16 first prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition, and a number of typical students have emerged, such as Xu Hui, the "Person of the Year of Jiangsu University Students", and He Ruijie, the champion of the Provincial College Students Career Planning Competition.

The school has established public technology service platform, multi-directional and three-dimensional social service system, and 20 national and provincial science and technology platforms, such as Robot and Intelligent Equipment Application Technology Research Center, Internet of Things and Manufacturing Information Engineering Technology Research and Development Center, and won the title of "Advanced University of Science and Technology in Jiangsu Province". The school vigorously promotes continuing education, with nearly 20,000 social trainings per year, and has won the title of "Jiangsu Provincial Demonstration Base for Training High-skilled Talents". Changzhou Robot and Intelligent Equipment Applied Technology Research Center was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and became the only higher vocational college in the project host unit of the National Innovation Fund in that year. The project "Digital Warp Knitting Equipment and Intelligent Management System" won the first prize of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce for scientific and technological progress.

The school expands Sino-foreign cooperative school-running projects, establishes international teacher training institutions, exchanges of visits, employs excellent foreign teachers and other ways to enhance the level of international school-running. In recent years, the school has carried out cooperative order training with internationally renowned enterprises, offered the "dual system" class of mechanical and electrical integration technology specialty between China and Germany, carried out the project of "introducing Huge teaching mode into Sino-German cooperative machinery manufacturing specialty", established the "Mechatronics-Yalong International Teacher Training Center" and developed the international cooperation training project.

The school has completed the flattening of campus network and the transformation of wireless network. It has formed a campus network structure of IPv4/IPv6 double stack with 10 Gigabyte backbone and Gigabyte desktop. It has realized multi-operator Internet access, and the total export bandwidth of the campus reaches 10G. Campus wired and wireless network covers all areas of teaching, office, life and so on. Virtual simulation teaching software has been widely used in professional teaching, and teachers'information-based teaching ability has been generally improved. In recent years, the school has won one second-class prize, three third-class prizes, seven provincial first-class prizes and 16 second-class prizes in the information-based teaching contest.
