Jiangsu Food and Drug Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general college sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and supervised by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. The College is located in Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, a beautiful and livable historical and cultural city with rich humanities. With convenient transportation, Xinchang Railway, Ninglian Highway, Beijing-Shanghai Highway and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal pass through. Lianshui Airport has access to more than 30 large and medium-sized cities in China. It is an emerging transportation hub, an important commercial port in Taiwanese-funded highland and the Jianghuai Plain.

The college covers an area of 1269 mu, with a total building area of nearly 280,000 square meters. There are more than 11,000 full-time students. The College is the founding and permanent secretary-general unit of China Food and Drug Vocational Education Alliance, the chairman unit of Jiangsu Food Vocational Education Group, the vice-chairman unit of Jiangsu Food Industry Association and Jiangsu Food Industry Association, the alliance unit of China Food College, and the innovative experimental base of training mode for food biotechnology professionals in Jiangsu Province. In the past 60 years, the college has been breathing with the times and making progress with the industry. It has made outstanding contributions to Jiangsu's economic and social development and industry revitalization. In the new century, the Institute is glowing vigorously in the tide of higher education reform, and has made remarkable achievements in various fields such as school-running system innovation, personnel training mode reform, teaching, scientific research and social services. In 2008, the College was designated as the construction unit of 17 provincial Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges in Jiangsu Province. In 2010, it entered the ranks of 100 key construction units of national demonstration (backbone) higher vocational colleges, and passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education at a high level in 2015.

The college has food institute, pharmacy institute, health institute, Hotel institute, finance and trade institute, Electromechanical Engineering Institute and Information Engineering institute. It offers 45 specialties in food processing technology, food nutrition and detection, biotechnology and application, biopharmaceutical technology, cooking technology and nutrition, Mechatronics technology, marketing, accounting and child care, covering food and pharmaceuticals. In the industrial chain, the production of raw and auxiliary materials, safety and quality control, storage, transportation and marketing are the main links. The college has one national professional teaching resource bank, five national and provincial excellent courses, four major groups in provincial universities and five characteristic specialties or construction points in provincial universities.

There are 610 faculty members, 469 full-time and part-time faculty members, and 496 full-time and part-time faculty members from enterprises. Among the full-time teachers, there are 36 professors, 141 associate professors, 300 master's degree and above, including 35 doctoral students. There are four members of the National Food Industry Professional Teaching Steering Committee, four members of the Supply and Marketing Cooperative Professional Teaching Steering Committee, and more than 30 outstanding teachers, Chinese culinary masters, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions from the province, training objects of the "333 Project" of the province, young and middle-aged scientific and technological leaders of the "Blue Project" of the provincial colleges and universities, and famous teachers of the provincial colleges and universities. The College has established 182 experimental and training rooms of 11 categories, such as food biotechnology, biotechnology, cooking technology, electromechanical control, computer network, economic and trade logistics, with a total value of more than 120 million experimental and training equipment. Among them, there are 5 national and provincial training bases and 2 provincial engineering experiment centers. The College also has the largest food science and Technology Park in the same kind of colleges and universities in the country, and has built many production lines, such as baking, meat products, dairy products, beer, yellow wine, wine, candy, chocolate, beverage and so on.

In 2011, the college's reform and innovation case of "building a"four in one"cooperation platform to promote the deep integration of schools and enterprises" was successfully selected into the fourth anniversary achievement exhibition of the construction of National Demonstration Higher Vocational colleges, and the characteristic accumulation and practice innovation project of "strengthening the dominant professional groups around the food industry chain" won the special prize of Jiangsu Province Government for the achievements of higher education reform. In 2013, the "Four Integration, Four Progression, Interactive Learning and Training" talent training model reform exploration and practice project won the Jiangsu Provincial Government's Prize for Higher Education Teaching Achievements. In 2014, the institute's characteristic accumulation and practice innovation, service industry demand and "double-chain" integration development around the food industry chain, the exploration and practice of Jiangsu Food Vocational Education Group, the exploration and practice of the training mode reform of "four integration, four progression, and interaction of learning and training" for biotechnology and application specialty, and won the title of vocational education country at the same time. Second Prize for Family-level Teaching Achievements. In 2015, the Ministry of Education selected the first batch of pilot units to explore and practice the modern apprenticeship system, which combines enrollment with recruitment and is co-cultivated by schools and enterprises. The Institute has built three provincial research platforms, undertook four national and Provincial Natural Science Fund projects, and won two provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards. According to the joint evaluation of East China Normal University and local knowledge network, the research competitiveness of our institute ranks 21st in the national demonstration (backbone) higher vocational colleges. High-quality single-cell methane protein strains developed by our institute and Jiangsu Institute of Macroeconomics returned smoothly on the Long March 7 rocket. The College and the local government jointly built Jiangsu Food Industry Science Park and Huaian National Agricultural Science Park, which promoted the deep integration of production and education.

The College has always been in line with the international standards, relying on the platform of China Food and Drug Vocational Education Alliance, and extensively cooperating with Canada, France, Britain, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and other countries and regions, which has won a good international reputation. In 2014, the College held the first Chinese-foreign forum for principals of Higher Vocational education, attended by principals from Britain, France, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, China and more than 20 well-known Vocational Colleges in mainland China. The successful holding of the forum has exerted an important influence in the field of higher vocational education at home and abroad.
