Northeast University of Finance and Economics, with the mission of "cultivating outstanding financial talents and serving economic and social development", is a financial university that highlights the advantages and characteristics of economics and management, and coordinates the development of economics, management, law, literature, science and other disciplines. Located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian, the school covers a total area of 650204.9 square meters, with more than 16,000 full-time students, including 9761 full-time undergraduates and 6453 graduate students. The school adheres to the principle of "combining education with employment, covering all the young and middle-aged, and developing all-round talents in all positions". At present, there are more than 1 800 full-time faculty members, including 837 full-time faculty members, including 1 specially appointed professor of Yangtze River scholars, 4 lecture professors, 4 candidates for the national "ten thousand people plan", 1 winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund and 1,000 planned candidates for the Central Group Department. Northeast University of Finance and Economics adheres to the discipline-leading strategy, which is the key construction of Liaoning Province's first-class universities. The school has three national key disciplines: finance, industrial economics and accounting, and one national key disciplines (cultivation) of quantitative economics. Applied economics, statistics, business administration, public management, management science and engineering, and theoretical economics are selected as the first-class disciplines in Liaoning Province. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education, the result of Applied Economics Evaluation in our school is A, which is in the ranks of 2% - 5% in the whole country; the result of business administration evaluation is A-, which is in the ranks of 5% - 10% in the whole country; the result of statistical evaluation is A-, which is in the ranks of 5% - 10% in the whole country; and the result of management science and engineering evaluation is B+, which is in the ranks of 10% - 20% in the whole country. The school has a comprehensive and well-structured graduate education system with economics and management as its main subjects, covering seven disciplines: philosophy, economics, law, pedagogy, literature, science of science and management. There are six doctoral degree authorization points in the first-level disciplines of theoretical economics, applied economics, statistics, management science and engineering, business administration and public administration, 42 doctoral degree authorization points in the second-level disciplines, and five post-doctoral research mobile stations in the first-level disciplines of theoretical economics, applied economics, business administration, public administration and statistics. There are 87 authorized sites for master's degree in secondary disciplines, including Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Accounting, Master of Tourism Management, Master of Law (including Law, Illegal Science), Master of Finance, Master of Applied Statistics, Master of Taxation, Master of International Business, Master of Insurance, Master of Asset Evaluation, Master of Audit, Master of Journalism and Communication, Master of Engineering Management, Master of Translation. Sixteen authorized places for master's degree in professional fields such as bachelor's degree and Chinese international education. Among them, the MBA project ranked second in the national MBA teaching evaluation organized by the degree Office of the State Council. The school is the first university to officially open MPA in the national financial and economic colleges, and is one of the 19 pilot units to start MPAcc in the country.

The school has 39 undergraduate majors, including 9 majors of accounting, finance, business administration, finance, statistics, taxation, insurance, engineering management, tourism management, etc. as national characteristic majors, business administration and finance as national comprehensive reform pilot majors, finance, finance, finance, accounting, business administration, international economy and trade, economics, statistics, etc. 10 majors, such as engineering management, tourism management and logistics management, are demonstration (characteristic) majors in Liaoning Province.

In addition, there are two forms of part-time general undergraduate education: adult education and network education. The school is the first demonstration base of continuing education of the Ministry of Education, one of 68 pilot units of network education and one of the first 10 evaluation units.

Northeast University of Finance and Economics takes talent training as the center, morality as the foundation, upholds the concept of education development with quality as the core, and cultivates outstanding financial and economic talents with excellent moral character, humanistic feelings, scientific literacy, international vision, social responsibility, rule of law awareness, innovative spirit and practical ability. In the course of undergraduate teaching reform and quality engineering construction, the school has been awarded three national famous teachers, five national teaching teams, four second-class awards for national teaching achievements, nine national characteristic majors, two pilot majors for national comprehensive reform, 11 national quality courses, three national bilingual demonstration courses, 10 national quality resource sharing courses and national quality videos. There are one open course, three brand English courses taught by the Ministry of Education in China and two national experimental teaching demonstration centers. All undergraduate majors in the school were recruited in the first batch in the country. Among them, 8 majors were recruited, involving 23 majors. Over the years, the admission scores of undergraduate students ranked among the top three in Liaoning Province and the top five in Northeast China. In the field of postgraduate education, the number of "100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations in China" and nominated dissertations ranked first in the national financial and economic universities.

Northeast University of Finance and Economics adheres to the principle of basic research leading the academic frontier "voice" and applied research, and takes root in the practice of "functional" scientific research and social service work. There are currently one key research base of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, one joint construction base of the Ministry of Finance, one Research Institute of Free Trade Zone jointly established with local governments, 17 other key research institutions and research platforms at or above the provincial level (including one collaborative innovation center of Liaoning Province, nine key research bases of Humanities and social sciences of Liaoning Province, two key laboratories of universities of Liaoning Province, and other key categories of provincial level). Five research institutes, 40 school-level scientific research institutes and 16 provincial innovation teams in Liaoning Province have initially established a new model of think tanks represented by key research bases of Humanities and social sciences, Liaoning Cooperative Innovation Center and pilot bases jointly built by ministries and provinces. School Publishing House is one of the top 100 book publishing units in China and the first-level publishing house in the country.

Over the years, the school has been guided by high-level scientific research results, closely combined with the actual economic and social development of the country and local areas, timely tracking the frontiers and dynamics of economic reform, and actively serving local, regional and national economic and social development. The quality of scientific research achievements has been significantly improved, and the quality of scientific research products has been constantly emerging. Since 2009, the school has been approved for nine consecutive years by the National Social Science Fund major projects, the number of projects listed in the forefront of colleges and universities in Liaoning Province. The school is the university that promoted the construction of University think tank earlier in the province. It undertakes a large number of major and key scientific research projects and decision-making consulting projects. The operational countermeasures and suggestions put forward in some decision-making consulting research reports have been approved by the relevant departments of the state and the province, and the relevant administrative suggestions have been better transformed into the decision-making or scheme of managers.

As early as the 1980s, Northeast University of Finance and Economics began substantive international exchanges, started Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools in 1994, and gradually formed a "high standard, internationalized" idea of running schools. After more than 30 years of exploration and practice, the school system has introduced advanced foreign university teaching management models, made full use of teaching resources at home and abroad, and gradually realized internationalization of teaching language, selection of teaching materials, curriculum system, source of students, teacher resources and teaching management methods, and continuously developed and implemented student exchange projects. The project of teacher exchange, the development of international cooperation research platform, the improvement of the quality and level of international school running, and the gradual improvement of the breadth, breadth and depth of international exchange and cooperation.

The school has one Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institution, Surrey International College, which carries out full-time undergraduate and postgraduate education of "studying abroad but not abroad"; six Sino-foreign cooperatively-run projects carry out "3+1" or "4+0" mode of Sino-foreign cooperatively-run schools; Confucius College has been established separately with the University of Southern Maine in the United States and Southern University of Applied Science and Technology in the Netherlands; and Confucius College has been approved for performance evaluation and Base; Overseas school-running projects carried out in cooperation with Hofstra University in the United States are the first overseas school-running projects in which Chinese university diplomas are awarded to American students in the United States; there is the first research base of Chinese-foreign cooperative school-running institutions in China, and the relevant research results have received important instructions from relevant departments and leaders of the State; they are scholarships for overseas students from the Chinese Government and subsidized by the Korean Government. One of the acceptance institutions of overseas employment projects and scholarships of Confucius Institute has formed an educational management system for overseas students in China, which includes undergraduate, master and doctoral degree education, long-term and short-term Chinese, business Chinese advanced non-academic education. Up to now, the school has established various forms of friendly cooperative relations with 111 institutions of higher learning and 8 international institutions in 22 countries and regions of the world, and has carried out long-term and stable exchanges and cooperation with more than 50 of them.

The school is the first university in China to participate in and obtain the "Quality Certification of Sino-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools". It is also a project partner of the Chartered Financial Analysts Association (CFA) of the United States. Accounting has passed the full accreditation of CPA Australia, one of the three global accounting associations. Two double degree majors in business administration and tourism management have been certified by AACSB, the most influential institution in the world.
